Quadbikes Safari

Never mind that commercial image of your Porche Boxster 911 parked outside your mansion. What about your quad-bike parked on a beach of the ravishing red sea – I mean how can you possibly compare the two. The great difference is that the quad bike and the places that you will be able to visit with us are worth far more than that Porche. We jump onto out quads and off we head to Valley Gonai for an afternoon jam-packed with snake trails, minor dry-river water hazards and the most spectacular chilled drive whilst we hug the coast of the Red Sea. You can take yourself and your loved or take the whole family and friends on an afternoon of sun, fun and laugh after laugh after laugh after laugh ..Hold up. for those of you who are not familiar with the term "quad bike" you should be informed (as the pictures clearly show) that it is a term used to portray an "all terrain vehicle .used in the general sense to describe any of a number of small open motorized buggies and tricycles designed for off-road use".

Ras Mohammed National Park

Ras Mohammed was officially opened as Egypts first national park in 1983. The peninsula is situated at the most southerly point of Sinai and extends for around 8 km into the Red Sea. This remarkable region is made of fossilized reefs, the highest point being Shark Observatory from where you receive a fantastic view of the reefs below. As well as offering fantastic opportunities for diving and snorkeling, Ras Mohammed is home to 80 plant species, 14 types of mammal and an essential staging post for 100's of bird species. There is even a mangrove forest which is almost unique in Sinai (mangroves are also found at Nabq).

Ras Mohammed is an important area for research by environmentalists and marine biologists who provide education on how to help preserve this unique region. A well equipped visitor's center shows educational films and slideshows about the park. Entrance fee is $5.

Colored and White Canyons

An early morning start and a 4x4 Jeep will take us to the Colored Canyon, the Ain Khudra oasis and the White Canyon. In the Colored Canyon high iron content in the sandstone creates the wonderful colors we see here, while thousands of years of erosion by water and wind has formed the amazing sculptured landscape we see today.

At the Ain Khudra oasis we meet the local Bedouins and our guide will inform us about their lifestyle and culture. After lunch we trek into the White Canyon which exudes peace and tranquility. Here, high lime content in the rock has resulted in an incredibly beautiful fissure of pure white. We return to Dahab in the early evening.

Blue Hole

Every day we run a trip to Dahab's world Famous "Blue Hole". Here, where the mountains meet the sea, nature has created a unique and beautiful geological formation. The sheltered waters inside the blue hole are ideal for swimming and snorkeling*, while the more adventurous can swim out to the reef wall to see the amazing marine life.

The restaurants here offer opportunities for refreshment and relaxation. You can also venture up into the mountains for a fantastic view of the area, or along the shore to see the ancient fossilized reef exposed here. Daily at 10.30am.

*The water here is very deep and only suitable for confident swimmers / snorkel.

Wadi Gunai

We leave Dahab by camel early in the morning for the hour ride south to the Southern Oasis. Here we pause to refresh with a swim/snorkeling or just relax amongst the palm trees before heading into the Wade proper.

Bedouin lunch is served and then you can explore deep into the Wade where water erosion has formed the rocks into fantastic shapes and you can even see dry "waterfalls", its hard to envisage that such a normally dry region can have enough rain to carve such dramatic features. After exploring/relaxing we mount up and ride our camels back to Dahab enjoying the sunset on the way.

Mt. Sinai and St. Katherine's Monastery

There is no way you'll get off with coming to Sinai and not visiting Mt. Sinai and St. Katherine's Monastery. Both sites are located within the Saint Katherine's Protected Area, right in the middle of the southern part of Sinai.

Mount Sinai, locally known as Gebel Musa (Mt. Moses), is located among a chain of striking red-brown mountains. The mountain, at a height of 2285 m, offers an awesome trek, via 2 distinct paths (the camel trail and the Steps of Repentance).

On our way down, you'll be able to visit St. Katherine's Monastery, home to Greek Orthodox monks. This monastery, built in the 4th century AD houses the Burning Bush, the Church of the Transfiguration and Moses' Well.

The trips leaves to St. Katherine Protectorate about 23:00 hrs (11 pm). Upon arrival, you start hiking Mt. Sinai. This depends on your physical condition and will take about 2 – 3.5 hours. There you watch the sunrise. On your way down you will visit St. Katherine's monastery. The bus will then pick you up around 10:00 hrs, where you will arrive in Dahab in time for lunch.

NOTE: The monastery is closed on Fridays and Sundays. Because of the high altitude and desert landscape, it is very cold on Mt. Sinai (even in the summer). So be prepared and bring a warm jacket. Blankets are available for rental on top of the mountain, if you are unprepared. It is recommended to bring a flashlight (torch), as you will be climbing during the night.

Cost per person: 20 euros (includes entrance fee and Bedouin leader).

Please take into consideration that these are religious and historical sites, which should be respected. Also respect the nature by not littering or contaminating water sources.
